Associate, Miller Legg

As a Regional Manager of Environmental Services, Mr. Brandenburg is responsible for managing and performing investigations on biological and ecological impacts affecting the firm’s public and private projects. This includes field evaluations, assessments, recommendations, and report writing. Specific responsibilities include: wetland determination and delineation, wetland mitigation design and monitoring, environmental permitting, threatened and endangered species surveys and assessments, benthic surveys, coral, seagrass, and mangrove surveys and monitoring. Mr. Brandenburg also is an Associate of the firm.

Mr. Brandenburg’s scientific expertise is in freshwater and marine systems, particularly freshwater wetlands, coral reefs and seagrasses. He has participated in numerous studies of aquatic ecosystems in Florida and has delineated freshwater and estuarine wetlands in numerous counties throughout Florida. In addition, he has served as an expert witness for projects involving wetland permitting.

Mr. Brandenburg has conducted coral reef injury assessments and is familiar with techniques for determining the extent of biological injury to marine systems. In addition, he has served as an expert consultant for the United States Department of Justice in two cases involving coral reef injuries. Also, he provided expert witness testimony for the Biotech Research Park permit administrative hearing and the comprehensive plan challenge. For both of these, he provided assistance to the defendant's attorneys on matters relating to permitting, ecology and wetlands and was deposed on both.

Prior to joining Miller Legg, Mr. Brandenburg held the position of project scientist/coordinator with another local consulting firm. Also, he worked as a research assistant for the South Florida Water Management District and he served as laboratory instructor while completing his Master of Science degree.
