Standards for Green Homes by the Florida Green Building Coalition - 6 hours (6 CEU): May 20, 2009 11am - 5pm; taught by Jennifer Languell, President of Trifecta Construction
This training course covers a general introduction to green building, the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the green home certification process and provisions, the eight categories contained in the green certification standard, and the FGBC exam required to qualify as a Florida Green Home Certifying Agent. Note: the exam is not administered as part of this class.
SMaRT Sustainable Products Standard Education: May 21, 2009, 9am - 11:30am; taught by Mike Italiano, President of Market Transformation to Sustainability.
SMaRT is a transparent, consensus-based sustainable product standard used for city purchasing. It is the leading standard in the market and has the most adoptions.
SMaRT is part of the Capital Markets Sustainable Investment Initiative and its Green Building Underwriting Standard. The US Conference of Mayors supports the Initiative and calls for 2.8 million green and climate neutral buildings, and 1.2 million certified sustainable products by 2015 to stimulate the economy and halt dangerous and irreversible climate change.
SMaRT is approved for LEED green building credit. Independent and legally binding third party certification and global auditing is required.
