Planning Central Florida: Integrating Growth and Conservation
In 1992, The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) embarked on an adventure that uniquely melded long-term business growth at The Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) with regional conservation planning and ecosystem restoration. The result is a master plan that guides growth at WDW while protecting important natural resources, including an 8,500-acre “environmental jewel” - The Nature Conservancy’s Disney Wilderness Preserve. This innovative partnership is a model for planning efforts currently underway in Osceola County and the Central Florida Region. This presentation will provide insight to successful public / private partnerships that can be applied anywhere a balance is needed between growth and natural resource conservation.

“The Green Cities Conference in Orlando was one of the most inspiring events I have sponsored. The management, staff and volunteers at Green Cities were totally dedicated and thoughtful. It was an excellent forum to meet and interact with hard to reach policy makers at government and county levels. I do not want to miss your next exhibitions, please keep me posted. Thanks for the personal attention.”
