Jaime Correa
Jaime Correa is a respected authority in the fields of architecture and town design. He teaches at and coordinates the world-renowned graduate program in Suburb and Town Design at the University of Miami. He has been widely published and is the recipient of numerous urban planning and architectural awards stretching four continents -including the first Chinese Government Award to an American design firm outside China and a citation to represent the US in the Bienal de Arquitectura in Chile. He has lectured at the Bauhaus/Dessau, Harvard, Notre Dame, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, and Colombia. He holds a Masters degree in City Planning with emphasis in Historic Preservation and a Masters degree in Architecture with a certificate in Urban Design from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a certificate in Classical Architecture and Medieval Iconography from Cambridge University, in England. He is a collaborator of the Town Paper, the New Urbanism Comprehensive Report and Best Practices Guide, the New Urban News, Cuadernos de Arquitectura y Nuevo Urbanismo, and other national and international publications.
His professional practice, Jaime Correa and Associates, includes the design and coding of more than one hundred New Towns, Inner City Neighborhoods, Districts, Corridors, Regions, Blocks and Streets, University Campuses, etc. Jaime Correa and Associates is currently working on the reconstruction of the City of D’Iberville, and on the by-monthly publishing and editorial of THE CORREA REPORT, a newsletter promoting a change of consciousness and design advancement in the fields of smart growth and sustainability.

This presentation provides an urban/rural mitigation strategy for the post-carbon era. Professor Correa will present the theory, practice and tools of one of the most important hybrids of: New Urbanism principles, sustainable design, and ecological resilience. This is a wake-up call to action by one of the most important urban thinkers in America.
