Green Cities’ Releases 2024 Environmental & Community Impact Report
The Green Cities Company is pleased to present our Annual Environmental & Community Impact Report for the 2024 reporting year. This comprehensive report highlights the innovations and progress we have achieved over the past year, particularly in creating more compelling living spaces for our tenants.
Today’s renters, driven by environmental awareness and a demand for transparency, seek homes that reflect their values, feel inclusive, enhance their health and wellness, and are ethically managed. In our annual Green Cities tenant survey, conducted across our property portfolio, 81% of our tenants identified water quality as a key factor in deciding where to rent; 76% stated air quality as a crucial decider in their rental preference; and 54% cited recycling and composting as decision drivers. As a result, our forward-thinking ESG initiatives provide a competitive marketplace advantage. These outcomes create value at the asset level and align our tenants’ preferences with our investors’ goals.
In this year’s Environmental and Community Impact Report, we are pleased to share many of the ways we are driving sustainability and social impact within our properties. Our commitment to detailed reporting spans the entire spectrum of our operations, from a portfolio level down to individual assets, all viewed through the lens of our Green Cities Index (GCI). We are proud to share detailed KPI’s across our portfolio and walk through our ESG investment integration process. With clear ESG strategies at the asset level and enhanced data collection, sustainability and health and wellness considerations are evaluated with value-driving outcomes for the betterment of each asset’s performance.
These efforts have resulted in:
- New protocols for climate risk and physical risk mitigation
- Enhanced data coverage for strategic decision-making
- Optimization of indoor air quality across the portfolio
- Progress in expanded waste programming with increased diversion rates from landfills
All of this supports our goals to create more compelling places to live, proactively manage risk, and unlock value at every property — all while reinforcing our ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards across our industry.
